To: Coaches, Players, Parents and Fans of Nordic Soccer Club.

Welcome (back) to the May 2018 edition of Nordic News.

Our spring season is fully underway with all 25 of our teams participating in spring tournaments, VT Soccer League (VSL) and Northeast Soccer League (NSL).

Various Nordic teams have been participating in tournaments since early March through-out New England and this spring has also been our first season for 8 of our older Premier teams in NSL.

Nordic teams are doing well in NSL and the feedback has been that this is a good level of play for our teams. 2003 Premier Boys (7-0) and 2002 Premier Boys (6-0) are both undefeated and will most likely win their Elite divisions whilst 2004 Premier Boys are 4-1 and standing strong in their Elite division.

Part of our mission statement is to "offer our players the highest level of play available" and through-out the years we have been involved with Super Y League, Region 1 League and now NSL. The youth soccer landscape in New England in constantly changing and we will keep you updated as events unfold.

Nordic has 8 teams competing in State Cup this year for a place at Regionals in Fredericksburg, VA in late June with 2002 Premier Boys already crowned State Cup Champions.

State Cup finals will be Sunday June 3rd at the Tree Farm.

Memorial Day week-end tournaments are coming up with Nordic teams at either the GPS or Needham tournaments in MA. The Target United Cup (formerly Kohl's Cup) will be on Saturday June 9th and Sunday June 10th for our U8 and U10 Boys and Girls teams at the Tree Farm and then our very own Nordic Cup will be Saturday June 16th and Sunday June 17th.

As always, Nordic will have a very strong graduating class of High School Seniors and our Class of 2018 will be no different!

With the introduction of Lee Williamson as our Program Director (check out his body building/physique photo on our Facebook page!!!!) we have been able to introduce a Strength and Conditioning program for our older players and a Speed and agility program for younger players. With Lauren Bernard and Jojo Lynch also qualified staff, this is a key program that we have been able to offer our players this past year.

Nordic Soccer is proud to have so many of our players represent not only VT but also Region 1 ODP teams. Nordic currently has 9 of our players on Region 1 ODP teams at various age groups.

Region 1 ODP players include Aidan Johnson (2001 Premier Boys), Jami Lashua (2002 Premier Boys), Owen Green, Oliver Martin, Asa Moskowitz and Chance Rose (all 2003 Premier Boys), Cole Hill (2004 Premier Boys) Sam Reilly and Zach Spitznagle (both 2005 Premier Boys)

Our 2004 Boys England trip during the April school break (12 players and 15 adults) was a huge success. The trip included FA Cup games at Wembley Stadium in London between Manchester United and Spurs and Chelsea and Southampton as well as visits to London, Chester and the England National Training Center at Saint Georges' Park.
